As a freelance writer, you will compete against many writers who are just as talented as you are. You will also compete against writers who write poorly and who offer their writing services at ridiculously low fees. These writers can and do get jobs. Many times you will tempt yourself to lower your rates to match or beat the bids to snag the project. Don’t do it! You are a professional. Professional writers don’t lower their rates or work for next to nothing. Many individuals who lack writing skills drive down rates, way below what professional writers can rightfully charge. If the true professionals do not keep up their prices, this will become an even bigger problem. Just because writers from other countries want to work for eight or nine American dollars per hour, this doesn’t mean you should. As a writer, you can earn far more than many freelance writers — and certainly more than freelance writers who speak little English but still bid on the English-speaking jobs at much lower rates. Visit any writer’s marketplace and scan through the projects. You will discover all types of bid prices and proposals. What you won’t see is how these writers came up with their bid prices or how they decided what and what not to include in their bid proposals. Often times these writers don’t know how they came up with their fees for bidding either. It becomes obvious when you see the same project posting listed under different genres or price ranges. Some of the same writers will bid on the same projects with a large spread in proposed bids. It is quite comical. If you want prospective clients to take you seriously, you need to do three things: 1) You need a website that lists your rates; 2) You need to be consistent with your rates; and 3) You need to collect a retainer up front before you start. Freelance writers need to know what they can charge based on the job at hand. This can vary depending on the marketplace. When it comes down to freelance writing, here is the truth in a nutshell: You can charge whatever it is you want to charge. You can base your fees on whatever you want to base your fees. The trick is finding someone to pay it who believes it is a fair price. Freelance writers are a rare breed. Many of them are quite difficult. There is no need to be one of them. Decide on your fees and stick to them. Keeping your fees consistent enables you to keep your bookkeeping simple. You are a writer, not an accountant. Simplicity in accounting should appeal to you. Regardless of how much work you find, keep yourself grounded. Make your job fun. Take things in stride. The money will come. The following information will help you set your rates. These rates may vary according to your experience and specialization. WHAT TO CHARGE Many writers will charge way too much for their services while others will charge way too little. You can find current market rates in Writer’s Market. You can also use the following as a guideline until you feel you have a good sense of what you want to charge. Remember, you can charge anything you want to charge. Always ask yourself what your time and skills are worth. More importantly, do clients feel you are worth what you are charging? Take a look: • News Articles ( web related ): $15-50 per page • E-books:$15-25 per page • Novels and Books: $75 per page • Radio Commentary: $200 per hour • Magazine articles: Expect anywhere from $600-$2000 per article • Articles for web content, not related to news: $10-$50 per article based on word count and other aspects of the job (such as keywords, etc.) Some writers prefer to charge by the word too. This is slightly different as it varies on several factors. If you are going to charge on a per word basis, decide how much that is and stick with it on all your projects of varying lengths. Often the rate per word charge fluctuates by writer depending on what the writer is writing (article, book, and web content). Whatever you choose to charge, consider the time you spend creating the work. Remember, if you are an educated writer in your field, you should be able to realize anywhere from $30-$75 per hour. SOMETHING TO CONSIDER ABOUT RATES You cannot please everyone all of the time. You will find publishers, editors, and clients who hire you on a fast turn around. Even though they expect quality, they also expect you to write top-notch, award-winning material. If a client tells you up front the deadline is important, be realistic in your talents and realize you are at a disadvantage before you start. If you have a demanding buyer with demanding deadlines, then realize you may feel you cannot craft the best copy you can. You should know your own pace and when you know you can’t deliver your best manuscript. If this is the case, then ask the client for more time. Also watch for up and coming savvy trade book publishers who hire writers to write an e-book and fully intend to market it as a trade paperback. Know this before you take the job. In fact, when you bid on e-books, expect it. If you want to charge more based on that possibility, then build it into your bid. Often, if you approach a potential client by e-mail, they will respond with a request for an author to pen an e-book for them. Many times this ghostwritten book will end up on the shelves. As long as you did your job and you got paid, what do you care? Sure, the client may have used a less than honest approach, but as a writer, you will see this every day on the freelance postings. These clients are trying to save money and this is why they do this. You can’t really blame them. The client wants to turn a book over quickly too. If they were to present a ghostwriter with a writing opportunity to write a manuscript for publication, it would take much longer and cost a lot more for their manuscript. Even though many people work with a rate sheet as their guide, others realize it is sometimes impossible to stick to their rates. You should establish some parameters when varying from your rates if you decide to offer a discount to a client. If you are working within a tight deadline, don’t vary much because 18 hour days can be part of your reality when you’re up against a tight web content deadline. By the end of those jobs, you want clients to pay you. Writers should stick to a rate sheet for their services. When pushed to turn out a job quickly, you should never discount a project, but instead raise your rates! Another subject has come up in many incidences on the subject of whether the writer should charge for re-writes. Many writers do charge for re-writes, especially if the client is unreasonable. If you provide re-writes for a client, make sure the client has paid you in full for the project. There are a lot of people in the world who have a talent in copywriting. These people are able to put their thoughts into words that can stimulate the brain into showing exactly what they have described. And there are also those who have the ability to make a website sell because of the way they make their articles. Copywriting for these people are directed on search engine optimization. This means, they not only make their articles informative, but push their copywriting skills to creating articles that can market their website. But how do they do it? How do these people enjoy copywriting as well as website marketing? Here are some copywriting tips that can help you make your articles optimized for search engines. First of all, SEO copywriting is not all just placing a lot of keywords and synonyms of a keyword in an article. It entails also creative writing wherein you should be able to incorporate those keywords into the article without making it lose sense. Copywriting using keywords is quite challenging especially if the keywords used are arranged in such a way that it does not make any sense. But, when you are able to produce a well written and search engine optimized article, this ensures a career in the field of SEO copywriting. Secondly, the keywords used for SEO copywriting are selected carefully, and not at random. They are in fact, chosen for their ability to be noticed by search engines. This is why keywords should usually be as unique and specific as it can be so that it will found in the top of the list of search engine results. Thirdly, do not limit your SEO copywriting skills with given keywords. The trend nowadays with search engines is the use of semantics, or words that when used together, produce a different meaning as compared to when used individually. This is quite beneficial for those who are looking for something in the search engines but do not know exactly what it is. So it is quite to your advantage to make your copywriting skills into good use, utilizing different styles in SEO on the articles. Fourthly, include meta-descriptions and tags for the articles made. This makes it easy for the article to become quite popular on the net and makes it easier for search engines to look for and be paired. The fifth and last tip, but definitely not the least, is providing well written articles using the given keyword, which is mentioned around ten times all throughout the article to make sure that it will be found immediately and something be done about it. SEO copywriting is fast becoming a popular choice for marketing a certain website. Although it may be found easily, the details are still tied up with it and should be fulfilled before the website gains much popularity. At least, you may think, it achieved its earlier conviction of producing a great article that will attract more customers on the website address.
1 Write a book You’ve done this already, right? If you haven’t, consider it. You may find yourself closer to a finished manuscript than you realize. Writing a publishable book from your knowledge or experience is often a matter of simply putting your expertise on paper. 2 Publish your book A published book becomes a calling card to line-up speaking engagements, freelance writing gigs, and other opportunities. Don’t become a victim of “Catch-22 Paralysis” where you can’t promote because no one knows about you, but no one knows about you since you can’t promote. Instead, become a “Catch-all front runner” where you’re an expert because you have published a book, and your published book proves your expertise. 3 Promote your expertise Two good places to begin are AOL and ABOUT.COM. Both have category-specific forums in which you can participate. By mentioning that you are the “author of such-and-such” within the scope of your communication, you begin to label yourself as an expert. Web-logs, or “blogs” are also a cost effective, efficient way to promote your expertise. Blogs utilize .xml and RSS feeds to provide dynamic, up-to-the minute publication across a variety of searchable platforms. The integration between blogs and contextual search engines becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy toward recognition. If you write about something, people searching for the topic will invariably find you, and that makes you an expert! 4 Overcome the fiction hurdle Being recognized as an expert in a technical or non-fiction category is admittedly easier than the largely subjective category of a fiction expert. Even so, if you have written a work of fiction, becoming a recognized expert is not only possible, but necessary. Just look at Clancy, Rowling, and Robbins. 5 Explore the possibilities Whether you’ve penned a techno-thriller, children’s fantasy, or romance, there is a forum in which to voice your expertise. The Internet is full of chat rooms, writing groups, genre-sites, and more. They’re all thirsty for content from published writers. You just have to know where to look. Conducting a Google search is a good place to start. 6 Join, participate, schmooze Seek out conferences, associations, and other experts to help you. I walked back to where a John was waiting and told him about the skeleton. He said he was well aware of the tragic situation and then told me the rest of the story. “Soon after the woman died, her body was placed in a sealed box and stored beneath one of the huts to cure, for it would take two years before the flesh could be easily removed. During that time, the robed men who slept in the hut, using the hut and circumstances to improve their inner work, had many visits from her in the form of a ghost that constantly roamed the area searching for her children. The key seekers came to know her quite well, and were saddened by the pain she could not resolve. She had imprisoned her spirit here, unable to go on because of her attachment to her children. “One day, a key keeper arrived in the community; one of those rare individuals who had found his key, and this particular one had dedicated his life to teaching. When he heard the story of this poor woman’s ghost, he talked with her husband briefly and then asked permission to stay in the hut under which her body was being stored. “On the first night, the ghost came by to visit,” a John continued, “It knew that the key keeper was there to help. The robed man quietly talked to the ghost regarding the human condition, saying that everybody loses their loved ones eventually when either we depart or they depart, and this is not something we can change or would want to change, as then the earth would be overflowing with humanity. The key keeper said that he was sorry that she was so young when death took her from her son and infant daughter, and before she had a chance to raise them, but that death is always unpredictable. ‘Can you tell me of any elder villagers you know of who have not lost their parents, either at a young age or as they became older?’ asked the key keeper. The ghost thought for a moment and then replied, I cannot think of anyone who is older, and even some that are young, that has not gone through this terrible experience.’ When a young child loses its parent, or when a young mother loses her child, it is always devastating,’ consoled the key keeper, but we are never alone in our grief, for these things happen to many people during the human experience. The love and care you have given your children while they were with you will carry them through this lifetime, and your husband, who is a very good man, will never forget you. As the children grow older, he will always remind them how wonderful you were and how much you loved them. But it is best for you to go on now. Be assured that your children will do well because I have seen their past lives; which are quite advanced actually, and nothing will harm them in an evil way anymore. I have also looked deeply into your past lives and can assure you that the harsh physical and mental pain you have endured and accepted in this lifetime will move you into the immaterial world. Once there, depending on your progress, you might become a perfected being and never have to return to physical life again to face the sadness this worldly life entails.’ “The key keeper stopped speaking,” a John comtinued, “and they both remained silent, as the ghost furtively glanced around for her children. She then began to sob, crying for a long time until the teacher finally said that it was time for her to leave, and that everything would be alright. She reluctantly looked around one more time, and then drifted out of the hut and into the forest, as she turned into a point of light. “Her ghost was never seen again after that night,” said a John, finishing his story, “and under the box where her body was being stored; deep wild orchids, deep purple ones, began to grow, which are very rare in this part of the forest.” Two key seekers came out of the hall and caught up with us, giving us each a small, rolled up mat for use when sleeping or practicing our inner work, and then offered to show us to our huts. When a John casually asked if a key seeker by the name of Moosawa had arrived, they laughed, and one of them said, ‘The snake man! Whenever we see a dangerous snake, we call, Moosawa,’ and he comes running to catch it. He claims to take them far away and release them so that they can do no harm to any of us in the community.’ A John laughed at their story, but then requested a hut near Moosawa. The two key seekers looked at him whimsically and asked if he was going to help catch snakes as well. A John smiled and said that he was sure that there would be something to catch. One of the men led a John across the courtyard, while the other accompanied me one-half mile down a trail deep into the forest where he pointed out the hut that would be my home for the next four months. He went out of his way to remind me that my path from the hut to the main hall was to be swept every day, without fail. The hut was situated on the upper end of a massive, flat rock. There were large rocks on both sides with deep ravines between, a haven for cobras, and surrounding everything was dense jungle. The hut was built on the customary four stilts, each of which had a small pan fashioned around it filled with water to keep out the ants and termites. Seven steps led to a small porch at the entrance of the small hut which had two large, shuttered windows to protect the key seeker from the drenching storms that would soon arrive. The straw roof looked as if it would hold up well during the rains and was well away from low hanging branches that always invite vipers to drop off trees and become unwelcome guests. Inside on the floor were a lantern and water jug, and in a corner was a table with a candle and some incense. The solitary adornments on the back wall were a pair of the ever-present geckos; foot long lizards that considered this hut their home as well. The floor and walls were made of planks cut from large trees by villagers using a two-man saw and cutting the logs end-to-end to make boards. This was backbreaking, tedious work, and their generosity again astounded me. These impoverished villagers gave up a great deal of their time and resources to support key seekers, and I vowed to work as hard as I could to find my key so that I could someday repay them. After living in the forest with leaky, lean-to shelters for more than five years, this hut was paradise! Later in the day, we joined the robed men at the well near the main hall for the afternoon bath, where we each were given a bucket of cold water and a bathing cloth, which was a short skirt woven in the villages and then donated to the men. This bathing area also served as a meeting place where the men met twice a month to make their bamboo brooms for sweeping the paths and to wash and dye their donated robes by boiling them with orange colored bark from Jackfruit trees. (We always used some of the hot water to treat ourselves to a hot bath every two weeks!). I walked back to my hut after the delightful bath and was able to practice my inner work for the first time without ants and termites crawling all over me, a constant aggravation in the forest, and I couldn’t have been happier. I had two geckos as companions and my inner work was improving, too. I was also now quite relaxed in the “pretzel” sitting position and thoughts did not plague me as they did initially. I was finally beginning to feel at ease with this practice; the fertile soil my heart was growing in. A few hours before sunrise, I could hear a distant bell ringing alerting me that it was time to light my lantern and make my way through the dark jungle on the narrow half-mile path to the hall. When I arrived, the robed men were filing in and arranging themselves on the stone floor in rows so that we could comfortably sit side by side to practice our inner work. The candles, the hall, and the dark jungle outside, with these robed men silently sitting together, created an atmosphere of intense serenity that was supportive of my fledgling endeavors. I always looked forward to this gathering of robed men in the mysterious, early morning hours, and it became one of my most precious memories of these months of the rains. I fell into a daily routine where we would sit together for a couple of hours in the early mornings, practicing our inner work until one of the senior key seekers would go outside as dawn was breaking to see if he could make out the lines on the palm of his hand. Being able to recognize the lines was the signal, as a John had explained, for us to adjust our robes and start walking to the surrounding villages to beg for food. The timing would get us there exactly at sunrise when the villagers expected us. A John and I would go with a small group that had a route across some fields toward the east and the rising sun, where we passed many rice paddies with scores of snakes, both in the water and on the banks craning their bodies and flicking their tongues to smell what was coming. There were mango, banana, and coconut trees speckling the landscape, as the beautiful sun, a floating red ball dancing on the horizon, came over the far hills to greet us. Everything was pristine and peaceful, as we walked in silence, concentrating on our inner work with our heads bowed in respect for the villagers who were supporting our efforts. One day, a young maiden was among a group of supporters who was standing with their baskets of food offerings. With bowed head, I accidentally peeked at her, and my heart fluttered. She was beautiful, innocent, with long, shiny black hair and dark, almond shaped eyes, and she lingered in my mind for the entire walk back to the community. The meal was always eaten silently, as a group, inside the hall, and accompanied by a few villagers who would remain to hear the customary talk by one of the senior key seekers. After the meal one morning, the robed man who had given me my mat on that first day asked if I would consider taking on a duty to help the community. I, of course, consented, and the key seeker explained that I would be responsible for ringing the bell every morning at three a.m. to signal everybody to come to the hall. Handing me an hourglass, he made it clear that this was a very responsible duty and that I would be required to wake up earlier than the rest of the community. I anticipated no problems and pledged to ring the bell without fail. While walking back to my hut that afternoon after the bath, I noticed that, indeed, the leaves really do pile up this time of year, as the path was almost covered. I was tired however and decided to sweep the long, half-mile path the next afternoon, notwithstanding this very subtle nagging in my heart that told me that I should do it now; that silent voice I was not yet completely in touch with. I threw myself into my inner work all night, worrying that if I fell asleep I wouldn’t wake up in time to perform my duty and ring the bell. Finally, the hourglass approached three o’clock so I lit my lantern and sleepily started toward the hall. I could barely make out the path in the darkness because of the thick layer of leaves, and again reminded myself to sweep the path later that day without fail. I stumbled along for a while, until I thought I saw a leaf move just as I was about to step down. I stopped and looked closer. Sure enough, underneath the leaves, moving very slowly across the path were the deadly black and yellow rings of a Banded Krait, one of the most poisonous snakes in the forest. I froze, as it made its way into the forest, and then I started to back away, but right behind me, leaves were moving again! It was another Krate. I directed my lantern down the path and leaves were moving as far as I could see! The entire area was covered with snakes. I stood perfectly still, but even so, two cobras were coming straight for where I was standing. I took a step sideways, and when I did, I felt something under my bare foot. It was a Krait, and before I could jump away, it whirled with lightening speed and struck my ankle. I knew immediately, in the pit of my stomach, that I had no chance to survive, so I just sat down in the leaves and waited for the snake’s poison to take its toll, pounding the ground with my fist for being so stupid. Why didn’t I sweep that path? Now I would never find the key. A John’s gripping question flashed in my mind: “Are you ready to die at any moment?” And I realized that I wasn’t. I could not accept this tragedy; I had so much more to do! How could I know what awaited me in another lifetime, or if I would be fortunate enough to encounter somebody in that next lifetime that was familiar with this incredible key? I was so close, and now . . . so far. ( To be continued) ——————————————————————————– E. Arthritis Arthritis Natural Treatments You’ve previously read some of the definitions of arthritis and what their causes are. You’re probably wondering at this time what some of your actual options are other than the medical route? The scientific research pertaining to alternative or complementary/natural arthritis treatments is truly extensive. For some of the more common arthritis treatments such as glucosamine and chondroitin, there are over 200 separate studies attesting to their effectiveness. No longer do you have to rely on third-party, outdated or unreliable information; many people choose alternative medicine as a result of hearing or reading the uses of botanical medicine/herbs or supplements or as a result of experiences heard from family members, friends or co-workers. Anyone who says that alternative medicine or supplements have not been tested or researched has no idea of what they are speaking of. For example, in the National Library of Congress there are over 300 different scientific papers on the effects of glucosamine on arthritis in humans and animals. It has been my experience the most accurate and useful data bases and compilations of alternative health knowledge have been written for the health professional. The average person has no idea what many of the terms or words mean as science has its own language generally unknown to those outside the field. Of course this is assuming that the average person knows where to begin looking for this specialized knowledge to begin with. So how do you treat osteoarthritis? First examine your diet and your hydration levels; how much water do you drink? A simple equation you can use to establish how much water you should drink is half of your body weight in ounces. For example a 200 lb. person should drink 100 ounces of reverse osmosis water per day, on an empty stomach. If you are not willing to make this one small change the chances of being successful in treating your arthritis using natural and self administered methods are small. Over 95% of all arthritis patients are dehydrated and have a poor diet, low in essential fatty acids and high in acidic forming foods. Fundamental changes in hydration and diet can have great consequences, dramatically increasing overall health and reducing many of the arthritic symptoms. The great news is that you can also rebuild your damaged joints and reduce overall inflammation throughout the system with the addition of simple supplements designed to speed repair and normalize function of the body. These supplements include; • Glucosamine • Chondroitin • Omega 3 oils • Devils claw • Hydrolyzed gelatine • Boswellia • White willow bark extract and numerous others. Remember that just using the supplements without making fundamental changes in lifestyle will give short lived effects. In fact, in way you’re exchanging one set of pills for another, drugs for herbs/supplements; the good news is that herbs and supplements have no side effects. Which word is more scarier to you? If someone yelled “fire!” or if someone whispered, “resume”? To most people, hearing the word “resume” induces panic attacks and beads of sweat across the forehead. Writing a resume is hard work. You must write your resume correctly; it must be perfect! Any blunders in your resume could cost you the job. The entire resume-writing process can be confusing. We’ve all asked ourselves these questions: “Which information goes in?” “Which stays out?” “How exactly should I format my resume?” If you jumped into a pile of books and articles on resume writing, you’d drown in words, sentences and advice that all sound the same. So what in the world will make your resume leap out of the pile and scream, “Grab me! I am the person you want to hire!” Writing a resume is both an art and a science. We need to know a successful formula of words, sentences, format and finesse to convey effectively our selling points. The following tips are shortcuts to write a stellar resume for whatever job you desire. FORMAT WITH CAUTION Your professional history will strongly dictate your resume format. We must choose one of three basic resume types: chronological, functional or combination. THE CHRONOLOGICAL RESUME - This is the most common type of resume, the one that comes to mind when the word is mentioned. A chronological resume is appropriate if you’ve had steady work experience with little to no breaks, have kept each of your jobs for long periods of time, or have industry-related experience that shows your working toward a specific goal. The Chronological Resume is comprised of: Objective (which we’ll discuss in a few paragraphs) Employment history (starting from your most recent job) Education Optional section (for things such as military experience or any special skills/interests that may pertain to the job at hand) References THE FUNCTIONAL RESUME - A variation of the chronological resume, a functional resume intends to highlight skills found outside of work experience; it’s useful if you’re in the process of changing careers, have little to no work experience or have held several, seemingly unrelated jobs. This sort of resume is comprised of: Qualifications summary (a bulleted list of achievements or interests that qualify you for the job for which you’re applying). Employment history Education Optional section References THE COMBINATION RESUME - A combination resume is what it sounds like: a combination of the chronological and functional formats. It tends to be slightly more useful than the functional resume, as that format sometimes makes an employer suspicious that you’re hiding something (such as a lack of experience). The combination resume is comprised of: Qualifications summary Education (especially if it’s a particularly strong area for you) Employment history (in reverse order as the chronological resume) Optional section References RETHINK YOUR OBJECTIVE Many books and articles extol the virtues of an objective; it is, after all, a great way to position yourself within a job and show an employer what you want and how willing you are to get it. A lot of job-seekers have been ditching the objective in favor of a qualifications summary, and employers seem to be responding well. The reason for this is simple: objectives are, by nature, focused heavily on you and not the employer. Your potential employer, while certainly interested in what you want, is far more concerned with your qualifications and what you can do for the company. The idea isn’t all bad, though. It just needs a little tweaking. Instead of an objective, try creating a positioning statement.; it functions on the same way as an objective but puts the focus on you. Take a look at these examples: Objective: To become an associate editor of children’s books at a major publishing house. Positioning Statement: Children’s book editor with 10 years of experience in publishing. These are loose examples, of course, but you get the idea; put the focus on you and the employer will take notice. THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAIL Be specific about what exactly you’ve done. Your former job responsibilities and achievements are excellent selling points in your resume. Avoid being vague, unless you want your resume to read like everyone else’s. Think about your previous jobs: what exactly did you do and how does that qualify you for a new position? For instance, don’t write that you “assisted the senior editor with a number of editorial duties.” Instead, write “contributed to editorial copy and content editing, cover design and overall concept of several major projects.” Detailing your specific job duties and accomplishments show the employer what you’re capable of and what he or she can expect from you as an employee. SHOW THEM WHAT YOU CAN DO It’s tempting to outline your responsibilities to save some space and not appear overly conceited, but remember — you’re here to sell to yourself. You have one shot to make an impression. Chances are good that the employer will already know a bit about the duties of your last job (especially if it’s linked to this job), so they need to read about what you’ve accomplished as opposed to what you did. Anyone could go through the motions of a nine-to-five day, but what did you actually achieve? What were the results of your work? Don’t be modest with this; if a book you edited hit the best-seller list, then by all means, let the employer know. Never withhold important information about your achievements. WORD IT WELL The words you use in your resume are just as important as the results you’ve achieved or the jobs you’ve held. Make sure you use lively, engaging words and always avoid the passive voice; it reads in a boring, trite manner. Always write in active voice so you sound more formal and direct. Stay concise — are you using more words that necessary? Would a great action verb effectively replace a whole sentence? Are there any obvious clichés, like “great customer service skills”? Strive to say things in the most interesting manner possible, and make sure you spell all words correctly. There’s nothing worse than a typo on a resume, as it leaves the impression that “if this person doesn’t care enough to spellcheck their resume,” the employer thinks, “then how in the world will they care enough to do this job well?” PERFECT THE PRESENTATION Resume presentation is another crucial aspect to the resume-writing process. How your resume looks will serve as the employer’s first impression of you; if it looks bad, or amateurish, your resume may not get a second glance. Make sure the visual formatting is correct (consult a resume guide book for samples of formatting) and always leave lots of white space; this makes it easier for an employer to skim through your resume and find the information they need. Use an easily readable font, such as Arial or Times New Roman; print it on high-quality white stock (no photocopies!); and send it in a white or manila envelope with a printed mailing label. And always, always, always remember to include your contact information, even your email address; it’ll be hard to land that new position if the employer can’t even get in touch with you. These days, there are already numerous types of Mass Media. This includes Audio recording and reproduction (records, tapes, cassettes, cartridges, CDs), Broadcasting Media (Radio, Television, Cable) Film (Cinema, DVDs), Digital Media (the Internet, Mobile Phones, Satellite), Publishing or the Print Media (Books, Newspapers, Magazines) and Video games. Marketing a product is the most important thing that must be done to let people know that a product exists. By getting the people hooked into a product and explaining how this can benefit the individual, a sale has been done. When a person markets an article, it is not about promoting a product. Itís about getting the message across to the reader and making that individual come back for more. Someone once said the pen is mightier than the sword. By being able to convey the message with good research and relevant issues, one will be able to get a lot of traffic. Marketing in the traditional sense has always been done by putting an ad either in the newspaper, the radio and the television. The digital age has changed everything as information like the ones presented by writing articles is passed on to people not only in one country but throughout the world. The best place to start in writing a good article is finding an interesting topic. This must be something relevant that a reader can relate to. Once a topic has been selected, it is time to write on it with a brief introduction then getting to the point. If the article has pros and cons, it is best to explain it so one wonít be accused of being biased. There are many places where one can make this known to people. This can be written in the editorials of newspapers, in blog sites that are available on the web and printing out flyers that can be distributed to the people. Of all the possible places, the best is in the internet since it is free and a lot of blog sites and created every single day. Not everybody may like what one has written. Some will agree and disagree. By giving people the chance to express the individualís opinion or making a forum, it becomes a fruitful discussion where a person may or may not change sides. Article marketing covers a wide range of topics. This can be about internet security to how to start a business that is written by many people. Words are more important than pictures in getting the attention of people. The articles should be written in a way like one is having a conversation with another person. This creates trust with the reader and makes this person come back to read more articles in the future. To keep the person interested, one should write short sentences that are simple for people to understand. This is because a majority of those who read donít have a high readership level compared to academic scholars. This should also have short paragraphs composing of 3 to 4 sentences. Most people lose interest in reading an article with long paragraphs because it is tiring. This will make the reader skip that portion and proceed further in the article that could make the person miss out on important details and not fully understand the article. People who have no idea where to start looking for a topic especially on the net use key words. These are chosen by the designers of the website. The best way to be seen is using a good headline and making sure that these are seen in more than one search engine for a lot of users to find. After writing the article, it is best to proofread it for errors in grammar and spelling that sometimes happen even to the best writers. So that people will know who wrote these articles, one should always put in the bottom a little detail of the writer. If one would like to hear feedback or reactions from readers, one can mention the email address or website if it exists so others can visit other works that the individual has done. Anyone can do article marketing regardless of what field the person was in before. By writing topics that one is very familiar in, this could help boost the credibility of ones work. Everyone has a message to convey and the best way for people to come back for more is being informative. More readers prefer articles that give meaning and have relevance than being endorsed to a certain product and buying it. During the interview, Levin said that McCain was recasting himself as more conservative in order to win the Party’s presidential nomination. Santorum responded to this by saying, “It’s amazing to hear what John McCain is trying to convince the voters he is all about. The bottom line is, I served 12 years with him, six years in the Senate as one of the leaders of the Senate, trying to put together the conservative agenda, and almost at every turn, on domestic policy, John McCain was not only against us, but leading the charge on the other side.” Santorum referred to the McCain-Feingold Act, sponsored by McCain, which limits campaign contributions. Detractors have dubbed the bill as an ‘incumbent protection act.’ Santorum attacked the act as “an affront to personal freedom and liberty in this country, and what we’ve seen as a result of this misguided attempt to placate the New York Times and to help his stature within that community … is that special interests have absolutely taken over the political process, and individual candidates, unless you’re a billionaire, and parties have very little voice in the process. “It’s a shame,” Santorum said, “but he was obviously out front on that.” Santorum was also critical about McCain’s decision to vote against the Bush Tax cuts; McCain, incidentally, was one of only two Republicans who did so. Santorum said, “The reduction in rates and lowering the rates on capital gains and dividends … did so much to get this economy up and going.” However, he said, “We would have had a much bigger tax cut if it were not for John McCain.” Santorum also drew attention to McCain’s hostile attitude towards the conservative position on issues such as drug re-importation, embryonic stem cell research, immigration, trial of terror detainees, and other issues. Santorum expressed “big fear” regarding McCain’s presidency, saying it would lead to a huge rift in the GOP. “I think he’s been solid in the war on terror … but on domestic policy, he’s very, very dangerous for Republicans,” he said, adding, “There’s nothing worse than having a Democratic Congress and a Republican president who would act like a Democrat in matters that are important to conservatives.” Santorum also said that McCain was a leader of Senate moderates who prevented the Republicans from implementing pro-life legislation. While he said, he had not decided on which candidate he would vote for, Santorum ruled out McCain. More information about us presidential elections 2008.
