There is no way to appreciate or understand an article better than when it is written by an author who is represented by an avatar. Without a clue to the identity of the writer the reader is forced to pass judgment only on what is written. This poses no problem for a person that possesses the ability to analyze what is read. But for the groupie an article that does not identify the author creates a state of terror for them, because they must know the identity of the writer. Some groupies only feel comfortable reading an article written by a certain gender. Others demand to know the religion or racial group of the author before reading the article. These groupies by their practice censor the independent writer who attempts to approach a subject fairly. There are many reasons for those that are now using an avatar on the Internet, the most common one is fear of being identified. Having a face displayed for millions to see makes a person uncomfortable. Some people that use avatars believe that they are homely and would prefer that their faces be hidden. Others prefer to stay anonymous for a variety of reasons, but few do it for the sake of creating an objective atmosphere for their readership. I doubt that there is any successful writer in the media that displays an avatar as an identity unless it is backed up with a profile. I think it would be better for the country if the presidential candidates were represented by avatars. In that way only what was said would be important. Their speeches could be heard over a device that would disguise the sound of their real voice. In no way would they be allowed to disclose their background or social status. Even a homeless person could become the president if he had something important to say. If this method of electing a president was put into law we surely would have a talented man leading our nation. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. But that picture can hide the importance of what a thousand written words are saying. A face can be deceiving because it rarely offers us the time to understand what is behind it. Written words can be examined and analyzed for the quality of its content. The benefit of the avatar is that it can help focus the attention of readers on what is being said. The avatar also destroys the narrowness of the groupie who is blind to what is written by those outside their group. A avatar has no race or religion, it is completely neutral. Future writers on the Internet might be required to use an avatar. It is needed in times where facial imagery has replaced words. melpol

Community relations is one of those marketing strategies that isn’t talked about much, even though I venture to say practically everyone ends up doing it at one time or another. Basically, community relations is when you and your business become involved in your community. For instance: * Your business donates money to nonprofit organizations. * You or your employees volunteer at a fundraising event. * You or your employees volunteer for a nonprofit organization. * You or your employees join a service club. * You or your employees network and/or volunteer at industry association meetings or business functions (such as Chamber of Commerce events). Some people might consider this networking and not community relations, but I would argue networking falls under community relations. Regardless, you get the idea. I’m going to go through the pros and cons of community relations in a moment, but first I want to encourage all of you to think about ways to not only add community relations to your marketing strategy but also to get better at leveraging those opportunities to grow your business. But first, let’s go through the pros and cons. Pros: * Builds credibility for you and your business. * Builds personal relationships with customers. * Works well with advertising

With the growing number of magazines for children, there’s a healthy market for children’s articles

Writing articles requires skill and continuous practice. But writing good articles requires more than these. So you would ask: "What are the components of an article?" "What could be the common mistakes of these writers? What makes the article a good one?" Here are the answers to these questions: An article intends to grab the attention of the reader. It also aims to send the intended message of the article written to the readers. If these 2 goals are not reached, the article is useless. Many article writers would fail in this stage alone. So what should be done to avoid it? An Article is composed of 3 important components: the title, the body, and the depth. A good title tells everything about the whole article so if the title alone could not attract the reader, reading the rest of the article is pointless. The title should keep the readers interested to the topic. Make sure that your title corresponds to the whole article especially the first paragraph. After the title, the body should be taken into consideration. The body should be interesting. It should not give any misleading information about the topic. When we say depth, we mean insights. A good article should be appealing to the general readers. Your article should not need be an Einstein to get what it means. Meaning, it should not have to be too technical and scientific. It also should not give the impression that your article makes your readers dumb. Write for the middle, the average people. This is the safest place and they are plenty. Common mistakes usually come with grammar, punctuation, and spelling. These 3 would destroy every single word of your article. To avoid these, edit your article. You will be surprised to spot errors scattered all over your articles. Afterwards, let your article be proofread by another person. This would give the article a good run if it would pass and also pinpoint the mistakes you miss. Too much bragging and advertising would mean disaster. Self-serving words would draw readers away. Never infuse anger to your readers at all cost. They read because they want to be entertained. Make it simple. Let your reader figure out easily what you mean. The fact that the reader gives attention to your article means you have his/her interest. If your content is good enough, your reader will surely know what you are trying to point out. Keep your article short. Or if you can squeeze all your thoughts in the shortest terms possible, do so. An article with so many superfluous words could not add any credit to its popularity. Instead, use clear words and make your article readable. As much as possible, squeeze your thoughts on a good, well-written paragraph with vocabularies that are common to all. Mistakes often occur on the format. Do not punish your readers by writing long paragraphs. An article is a complete turn of if it contains big blocks of letters. If this happens, readers would only scan the first sentence of the paragraph or would not give your article any chance to be read. 5-7-line-paragraph is ideal and easier to absorb and easier to read. Also use bullet and numbers to give your readers an easy reading. From here we go back to the question: what makes a good article? Four words: Simple, short, and clear! Most people don’t realize the importance of keeping a journal. I’m not just talking about keeping a journal of the events of your day, but a written record of inspiration. It is so easy to believe that ideas that could change your life an career come from outside, through reading inspiring stories from other’s successes, but do you know where they received this inspiration? From listening to the inspiration that was expressing itself from within. Have you ever had one of these moments… One where you have a great idea, but then it seems to vanish into thin air? You wonder, “Where did it go?” Ever think about where it came from? All great ideas came in the form of thought. Original thought. All great people throughout humanity have expressed these original ideas, many of them being shot down and criticized. But, let’s examine this… What if Thomas Edison quit after failing the first time when creating the light bulb? What if he quit the 10th time? Or the 100th time? How about this… What if he quit after the 9,999th time? Did you know it took him 10,000 times to perfect the light bulb?? Ten thousand! Can you imagine trying and failing 10,000 times? What is most inspiring about Thomas Edison is his expression of thought put into form. You may or may not believe this, but you have the same capabilities as any great inventor or “guru” in creating an original idea. What you probably didn’t know is that the idea doesn’t just “pop” into your head in one big swoop and then take form. What happens is this, a small idea will come to the mind, and is insisting on being remembered by way of written or recorded form. Once this idea takes form, another will emerge. Then, another. And, so on. This begins to build essentially until all forms unite to create what we now see as a really great idea! An invention or creation totally unique from anything else we have seen or heard of before. But, wait a minute….. What will happen if we don’t write it down? Where does it go? Worse yet, how are we going to build upon it if we don’t keep records of these seemingly small ideas? Have you ever thought that these build to essentially create something large? Ok, so maybe keeping a journal is more important than you thought. Does it have to be something fancy? Absolutely not! You can keep a 3X5 note card in your wallet or hand bag. Anything will do that has quick and easy access. I love to use the 5 Star 5? X 7? Notebook. It’s small, but not too small. It works for me. I suggest just going to your local office supply store and letting the notebook section to “speak” to you. Something will pop out at you that will be perfect for all your thought provoking ideas. A couple helpful things to keep in mind when writing: CARRY IT EVERYWHERE. You never know when a great idea might spring up, and you’ll always want to be ready for it when it comes. We don’t want you to miss anything! ALWAYS TAKE NOTES. This may seem like a tedious thing to do, but you never know how something someone says could be significant to the fruition of your ideas. PAY ATTENTION TO ANYTHING WORTH WRITING DOWN. If it sounds good at the time, it will be useful for something in the future. WRITE ALL IDEAS. Remember, your ideas can take form to make something great. We don’t want you to miss your opportunity! WRITE EVERYDAY. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy! Just a few thoughts will do. Most of the time, you will begin to see a pattern emerge that will inspire you to write more. REVIEW YOUR JOURNAL. Remember, it’s the accumulation of thoughts that form to create the large ones. Past thoughts and ideas will be helpful and important in the future. Nothing is ever lost that is written down. So, what will you write about today? When the main character, Reuben, decided to put the stop in his guilty feeling he did the next things. He left his house and accompanied with his son, Cyrus, and wife, Dorcas, he wanted to find the ground for new life. They went far from civilization. Reuben wanted to reach the forest where long time ago he left his friend. His instincts and the image of Roger Malvin were the moving power for him. He wanted to find even the bones in order to bury it, and to correct the mistakes made in the past. He could not find the white handkerchief tied on the tree in order not to confuse the location. Well, the attempts to find the bones were equal to zero. In order to rectify his sin he unintentionally killed his son, he thought it was a deer. Of course, he did not want to pay for the sin in such way but it took place. Finally, Reuben got enough powers and courage and he arranged necessary buries for his son like he should do for his friend. As for the situation with the Misfit, he tried to have a look on his life and to show that he is not an evil person. Talking with grandmother he realized that he could be a good one. She told him about the Christ, about the fact that the Christ could forgive everybody you should just believe in it. He understood that his false imprisonment took place not in order to punish him, but it was the life, cruel but real. After that case the Misfit made wrong conclusions and began to kill. But he did not know that the Christ could forget and that he could change his life. The only thing that should be done was the faith, but the Misfit was too scared to believe, and there was no courage in his soul. Andrew Bolton is an experienced freelance writer. This is the third article of a three-part series. I’m illustrating the marketing challenges of PrescottWeddings.com, a small business. If you don’t remember anything else about marketing, remember this: Frequency is king. The more often you can get your name in front of your potential and current customers, the more likely you will make a sale. Depending on what study you look at, people need to see your message anywhere from three to 27 times before they act upon it. And, if you want to brand your business, then you need to get it in front of your customers as often as possible. How do you think Ivory Soap, Campbell Soup and Tide all built their brands so deeply into our minds? Through years and years of repeatedly advertising. That’s why those brands pop into our head when we think about soap, soup or laundry detergent. So if you want to build your brand, then you need to advertise frequently. There’s another benefit to advertising frequently. It also helps your current customers. People like to know they made the right decision after they purchased something. How much reassurance they need depends on how much they spend, but everyone needs some confirmation they made the right decision. Your advertising can help. Studies have shown that people are more aware of car ads after they purchased a car — specifically car ads of the model they bought. And they’re more likely to both believe and approve of the message. Again, because they want to know they made the right decision. So there are many good reasons to advertise frequently. Does that mean you have to spend a fortune? Not necessarily. There are a few tricks you can use to get the frequency you need at a low cost. (These are print tricks — other advertising outlets, such as radio and online, we’ll talk about in future issues.) 1. Make your ad as small as possible. Small ads cost less. The topic might have been more true in olden days when ignorance was bliss. It is not as relevant with todays society. Skepticism is a part of human nature and will always remain so. Suspicion and mistrust come either from lack of experience or from bad past experiences. It is often when something or someone fails to meet ones expectations or acts contrary to accepted belief that one develops a sense of suspicion or mistrust for all future activities. Galileo, Copernicus proposed groundbreaking theories. What they said was totally contrary to the then prevailing belief. They were accused of heresy and mistreated. It is now we term them as experts who were simply ahead of their time. Today George Bush has declared war on Iraq, but without full support of the world. Being American President, he is supposed to be the most powerful man on earth. Even after clarifying his motives and goals, there are many theories and rumours about his real objectives of the war which range from US taking control of Iraq’s oil to taking control of the world. If you take the field of journalism and news reporting, there is always a sense of mistrust in the minds of the people watching or reading the news. Very reputed and famous newspapers and channels have been accused and quite sometimes proved of giving biased reports and in a way influencing peoples beliefs. Politics has been time tested. There won’t be any country whose citizens believe their leaders and politicians are clean and god-men. No matter what happens in politics, people always try to know the background objectives of the politicians. This mistrust and suspicion comes from experiences through the ages and will no doubt remain in the future. Similar things happen in the corporate business world. Enron, a multi billion dollar company 3-4 years back is now considered as a case study of how a business can collapse on falsely built ideals. The market experts who could not predict the Enron disaster are being chided by investors. Arthur Andersen, supposed to be the numero uno of accounting and consulting is now nowhere. The experts in lure of money manipulated papers and are now cooling their heels behind bars. In this scenario, common people start losing their faith in these big names. This has happened over the years everywhere. It is because of misappropriations and bad deals by few people who give an entire industry a bad name. Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton will be remembered more for the scandals they indulged in. Talking about politicians, there are actually honest and morally upright guys who enter the field with a magnanimous thought of improving and uplifting society. Even their policies and decisions are taken apart by people to know what personal motives are hidden behind these honest faces. Even if an Olympic runner runs a superb race without any drugs, there are rumours thick and fast that banned steroids might be the case and so testing is necessary. One rotten mango spoils the whole lot or can we say- gives the whole lot a bad grade.
